Compare annual outage minutes by state, then check the national record. EIA methods and major-event treatments stay separate. Latest published year: 2024; history: 2014–2024.
SAIDI measures minutes of non-momentary interruptions per customer-year. SAIFI measures interruptions per customer-year. CAIDI measures restoration minutes per interruption. An annual average is not the length of one outage or a forecast for your home.
Each row is a separate population/treatment. Signed changes are derived: 2024 minus 2014 in the same units. This is not a causal or fixed-coverage trend estimate.

These are observed EIA-published state aggregates, not our utility estimates. This view ranks IEEE SAIDI only. The state CSV preserves all three metrics and all five EIA series for 50 states, D.C. and the U.S. over 2014–2024. Blank source cells display UNKNOWN; numeric CSV fields are empty with per-metric status columns. Any Method is not blended into the IEEE ranking.
National reference, same IEEE measures: all events 662.6; without major event days 131.6 minutes per customer-year. This is EIA's published national aggregate, not an average of states. Findings above exclude D.C.; the table labels it separately.

EIA receives annual utility reliability reports on Form EIA-861. Its Electric Power Annual technical notes describe customer-weighted aggregates using customers reported for each metric. We transcribe EIA's published aggregates; we do not aggregate utilities, average states or estimate missing cells.
IEEE means IEEE 1366-2003 or 1366-2012. Any Method includes both IEEE and non-IEEE reporters and remains a separate population. IEEE major event days exceed the daily-SAIDI threshold Tmed based on the preceding five years; other-method major events are utility-defined. Loss of Supply Removed excludes interruptions from high-voltage/bulk-power supply and is not the without-major-event-days series.
These measures describe non-momentary interruptions. With/without major events is a statistical treatment, not a weather-only split. A single storm can dominate a state-year. A gap does not identify the contributing event or cause.
The aggregate tables do not provide each series/year's utility roster, metric-specific customer coverage, missing reporters or event-day list. Coverage and reporter mix can change. A state ranking describes the reported customer aggregate in one year, not every household or utility. Historical changes need not reflect a fixed population or steady trend. These are not real-time conditions, household risk scores, outage forecasts or battery-sizing instructions.
